John O’Malley is the Chief Executive Officer of Harland Clarke Holdings (HCH), where he is responsible for overseeing a portfolio of companies that optimize customer relationships through a broad variety of omni-channel solutions. Harland Clarke, Valassis, RetailMeNot, and Scantron are the major businesses delivering transformational solutions that connect more than 70,000 clients across all industry segments with hundreds of millions of consumers. In addition, he serves as Executive Vice President for MacAndrews and Forbes, Inc.
With more than 30 years successfully leading a number of large enterprises across multiple industries, John assumed the top leadership responsibilities at Harland Clarke Holdings in 2019. He has an extensive background in leading businesses through transformation and innovation focused on future growth in various industries including enterprise sales and fulfillment solutions, marketing services, digital imaging, global financial and payment services, data and analytics, as well as fraud and risk management.
John has served in multiple successful CEO and President roles including Digital Insight, Panini, Fiserv, and also Harland Financial Solutions, which was a company within the Harland Clarke Holdings portfolio.
Vice-Chairman, Harland Clarke Holdings
Chuck Dawson is Vice-Chairman of Harland Clarke Holdings supporting the continued success of the enterprise as a collaborator and trusted advisor to the CEO. Harland Clarke Holdings optimizes client needs through its major business units Harland Clarke, Valassis, RetailMeNot and Scantron. During Chuck’s role as Chief Executive Officer of Harland Clarke Holdings from 2005 to 2016, he worked diligently to guide the organization through tremendous growth—organically and through acquisitions. Most notable were the acquisitions of the John H. Harland Company and the more recent Valassis acquisition in 2014.
Chuck has more than 40 years of experience leading high performing management teams. As a leader, he held the position of Chief Executive Officer of Rocky Mountain Bank Note before joining Clarke American in 1993. While at Clarke American, his roles included: Executive Vice President and General Manager of Partnership Development, Senior Vice President and General Manager of National Accounts, Securities and Business Development, and President and CEO of Harland Clarke. Chuck has also served as a Director of MacAndrews and Forbes Worldwide from January 2007 to December 2011.
Chuck earned a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing and a Master of Business Administration degree from Lamar University.
Senior Advisor to the CEO, Harland Clarke Holdings
Dan Singleton serves as Senior Advisor to the CEO while helping drive the continued success and growth of the organization. He provides strategic leadership to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies.
With more than 30 years of strategic and operational leadership at HCH, Dan most recently served as Chief Operating Officer of Harland Clarke Holdings and CEO of Valassis. Prior to those roles, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Harland Clarke. He joined Harland Clarke in 1988 after holding positions at two Fortune 500 companies and was rapidly promoted through the sales organization. In 2000, Dan was recruited to lead sales, marketing, and international efforts of a $1.1 billion manufacturing sister company. After he successfully improved that company’s performance and revenue growth, he returned to Harland Clarke in 2006 as Executive Vice President, assuming responsibilities for all client-facing activities. Dan was named President and COO of Harland Clarke in 2008, with accountability for financial results, strategy, sales, marketing, manufacturing, delivery and execution. He became Harland Clarke’s President and CEO in 2012, leading the Harland Clarke Senior Leadership Team and team members in delivering operational excellence and intelligent solutions to more than 50 million consumers and 6 million small and medium sized businesses per year.
Dan was the founding sponsor of the Harland Clarke Diversity Council and has served on the board of directors for the Texas Diversity Council, Georgia Perimeter College, and Mission Team Inc. His commitment to diversity has been recognized by receiving the “Men Who Champion Women” award by the National Diversity Council and the “CEO Champions of Diversity Award” from the Texas Diversity & Leadership Conference.
Dan received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Florida.
Chief Executive Officer, Harland Clarke
Jana Schmidt is the CEO of Harland Clarke, with executive responsibility for driving client and consumer value while accelerating business performance and growth. She leads the executive management team to deliver payment and marketing services that drive customer engagement in every relevant way across channels, leveraging data and cross-channel campaign management to develop end-to-end solutions that help clients connect with consumers and businesses how, when, and where it matters.
With more than 30 years of leadership experience in sales, marketing, operations and client advocacy, Jana most recently served as the president of Harland Clarke. She was responsible for the strategy and advancement of the company, while delivering strong outcomes in deposit and loan acquisition and retention, as well as customer onboarding and activation through digital and analog channels. Prior to this role, Jana served as CEO of Ecova (now known as ENGIE Impact) where she created a clear vision and strategy to lead the global energy and sustainability management company. Her leadership at the technology-enabled services firm delivered strong financial and operational results, and drove value from analytics-based solutions to large commercial and industrial companies with over 700,000 global locations.
Jana has extensive senior leadership experience at Harland Clarke. Before her time at Ecova, she owned the P&L for the company’s Marketing Services division and also served as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, leading the national sales and marketing teams
Jana is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization of Atlanta and is a board advisor to Junior Achievement of Georgia, and is a board member of GirlTalk. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree (cum laude). She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Colorado State University.
President and Chief Executive Officer, Valassis
Cali Tran is the President and CEO of Valassis, the leader in marketing technology and consumer engagement. Cali has risen to become CEO due to his vision, his track record, and his passion for transforming the omnichannel experience for both consumers and marketers. In early 2019, Cali was promoted to President of Valassis, charged with aligning and strengthening the online and offline, data-driven business. Previously, he served as President, Valassis Digital from 2014 – 2018 and led the division through an exceptional trajectory of consistent profitable growth through organic initiatives and strategic acquisitions. He is deeply committed to empowering associates and building award-winning solutions that help improve consumers’ lives and drive exponential growth for clients. Prior to Valassis, Cali served as the Senior Vice President of Technology and Business Development at MacAndrews & Forbes, the parent company of Harland Clarke Holdings. He is also a founder and investor in high potential, market disruptors. His portfolio includes Ancestry (pre-Series A team), GoPlae (co-founding investor) and Adavium Medical (seed investor). Earlier in his career, Cali was a principal at North Bridge Venture and Growth Equity Partners, where he invested in wireless and digital media technology entrepreneurs.
Cali earned his Bachelor of Arts in history, cum laude, at Bowdoin College and his MBA at Harvard. He had the privilege of serving as the Chairman of the Fund Directors of Bowdoin College from 2011-2015 and has the honor of being the Co-Chairman of the OneVietnam Network since its founding in 2009. He lives in San Francisco with his wife, Dr. Ellen Chan.
Chief Executive Officer, RetailMeNot, Inc.
Marissa Tarleton is the Chief Executive Officer of RetailMeNot, Inc. Marissa joined RetailMeNot in 2015 as chief marketing officer and helped deliver significant growth in consumer acquisition while also building new revenue streams for RetailMeNot. Marissa was named a top 50 CMO on the inaugural Forbes CMO Next list in 2018 due to her thought leadership in data-driven mobile marketing. Marissa was appointed to CEO in January of 2019.
Prior to RetailMeNot, Marissa led marketing for Dell Inc.’s North America Consumer and Small Business organization. Her responsibilities included driving new customer acquisition through marketing communications, media, partner programs, loyalty and CRM for both the Dell direct and retail businesses.
During her 13-year tenure at Dell she has served in multiple regional and global marketing leadership roles including product marketing, brand management, e-commerce and digital marketing as well as leadership of Dell’s global advertising team. Prior to Dell, Marissa worked in advertising in New York City for both Ogilvy & Mather and Foote Cone & Belding. She was responsible for account and media leadership for brands such as IBM, Nabisco, and the United States Postal Service.
Marissa holds a Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin.

Prior to RetailMeNot, Cotter was CEO-in-Residence for Austin Ventures. Cotter also previously worked as the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Bankrate for seven years, taking the company public in 1999. He also served as a Vice President and General Manager of VML and Assistant Vice President of H&R Block. He wrote the book “Your Financial Action Plan: 12 Simple Steps to Achieve Money Success.”
Cotter holds an MBA from Vanderbilt University. In addition to his responsibilities at RetailMeNot, Cotter is on the Board of Directors for Global Wildlife Conservation, and several private companies.

Lee Ann Stevenson
Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Chief Administrative Officer, Harland Clarke Holdings
Lee Ann Stevenson is the Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer for Harland Clarke Holdings. She is responsible for managing global legal affairs of the HCH businesses, including commercial, employment and compliance, in addition to government affairs, IT, Security and Human Resources. Lee Ann also serves as a Senior Vice President at HCH’s parent company, MacAndrews and Forbes Inc.
Prior to joining MacAndrews, Lee Ann was a litigation partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP in New York, where she practiced for 15 years. Lee Ann has handled complex commercial matters for fortune 500 companies such as Verizon, General Motors, Honeywell and Sears, as well as financial institutions and privately held companies.

Steve Albright is the Executive Vice President & Chief of Staff of Harland Clarke Holdings (HCH) where he is responsible for providing operating advisory and execution assistance to the CEO and senior leadership team to drive strategic, market-driven transformation initiatives and commercial excellence. Steve’s professional strengths include strategy development, go-to-market formulation, building high-performance teams and complex problem solving. His broad general management experience drives proficiency in operating businesses and his extensive client interaction in sales, marketing and service validate his proven ability to grow businesses.
Steve returned to HCH after spending over a decade in various operating roles within private-equity sponsored businesses that included CEO of Critical Information Network, CRO Openlink Americas and CRO Onepath technology services. Additionally, Steve served as an Operating Partner overseeing numerous PE-based portfolio investments and established a Strategic Advisory Services practice with a reputable consulting firm.
Prior to that time, Steve spent nearly three decades at Harland Clarke, a wholly owned subsidiary of HCH, where he held a variety of senior level operating roles with direct P&L responsibility to include General Manager and EVP Marketing Services, President of Liberty Enterprises and SVP John H. Harland Company. In these roles, and others, Steve oversaw turnaround, start-up, organic growth, acquisition integration and restructuring situations.
